Rock the House

I have always enjoyed listening to music. I have always enjoyed listening to music as loud as possible. I have always enjoyed teaching my children to listen to music, and to listen loudly. Because of some audio deficiencies, I have been recently concerned about my inability to expose Boomer to this favorite hobby of mine. I am worried that his older siblings would reminisce about the good old days when Dad would rock the house. I’m worried that Boomer wouldn’t have any idea what rocking the house is all about.

So I took a small step towards remedying this concern by holding an impromptu dance party - air guitar demonstration in the kitchen last night by playing a few discs on the small (and completely inappropriate for the task) stereo mounted under the cabinets. I think I blew the speakers. But oh was it grand! We began with a set of Stevie Ray Vaughn, worked our way through a bunch of Led Zeppelin, and closed the show with a Drops of Jupiter sing along. Boomer demonstrated that he is a complete natural – he dances, moves twirls, spins and bounces with the best of us. It made me feel great.

Now what we need to do is get some truly qualified stereophonic equipment and make these sessions a more frequent occurrence.

Happy 77th Birthday Dad - I love you - BJ
